In the CF range DAF has designed the most comprehensive choice of application-specific vehicles to meet the wide ranging demands for high productivity and efficiency in modern haulage and distribution fleets. In the UK, the 85CF has already demonstrated an exceptional ability to reduce transport costs and consequently has been voted Fleet Truck of the Year 1999 by British operators and holds Truck Magazine’s Fuel Economy Record.

The stylish and aerodynamic CF cab offers drivers the two essentials they need to perform at their best, namely space and comfort. Headroom is maximised with a floor to roof height of 1605mm whilst the low engine tunnel makes movement around the cab easy. A low cab floor and "staircase style" steps provide effortless access to either the day or sleeper cab. The large windscreen, side windows and heated, electrically operated rear-view mirrors provide outstanding all-round visibility for the driver.

The DAF 75CF is an efficient model in virtually every transport role up to a GCM of 38 tonnes. Powered by a newly developed 9.2-litre, 24 valve, 6-cylinder, in-line turbo-intercooled diesel engine it offers exceptional performance and economy while meeting the most stringent emission standards. The model offers three engine outputs of 250, 290 and 320 hp with high torque of 1000 Nm (at 1200 - 1700 rpm), 1130 Nm (at 1150 - 1700 rpm) and 1275 Nm (at 1300 - 1700 rpm) respectively.

The 85CF is designed for heavier loads with a GCM up to 50 tonnes and features the new 12.6-litre, 24 valve, 6-cylinder, in-line, turbo-intercooled XF diesel engine. Powerful performance with low fuel consumption for low costs per kilometre are achieved with a choice of three engine outputs at 340, 380 or 430 hp with high torque of 1600 Nm (at 1200 - 1500 rpm), 1750 Nm (at 1100 - 1500 rpm) and 1900 Nm (at 1050 - 1500 rpm) respectively.

"The 85CF has the same chassis as the 95XF. But its more compact cab makes it lighter and more suitable for weight-critical transport applications," said Mike Smith, Sales and Marketing Manager for DAF Trucks Australia.

The CF is available as a 4x2, 6x2, and 6x4 rigid or prime mover and an 8x4 rigid. The light and durable, high tensile steel chassis has a completely flat top for easy body mounting. The 6x2 model has a lifting third axle which can be used when the vehicle is lightly loaded to minimise tyre wear and fuel consumption or to assist traction on uneven road surfaces. A built-in safety device automatically lowers the axle if maximum permissable load on the drive axle is exceeded.

For outstanding all round performance the CF is available with a choice of nine or 16-speed easy to operate synchromesh gearboxes.

The CF includes dual-circuit, air-operated drum brakes with large lining areas on the front and rear axles for powerful and progressive performance with ABS and traction control available as options. In addition the DAF Engine Brake (DEB) provides extra braking capacity up to 290 kilowatts at 2400 rpm.

Long parabolic leaf or air suspensions are available on front and rear axles. Add to this the four point cab suspension and the result is outstanding ride comfort.

"A number of modifications have been made to the DAF range to suit Australia’s unique trucking environment. For example the Kenworth Airglide 200 rear air suspension is fitted to all 6x4 bogey drive models. This has reduced the tare weight and provides a higher maximum payload" Mr Smith explained.

All DAF trucks come with a 2 year / 500,000 kilometre warranty covering the complete chassis and driveline and are distributed through the DAF dealer network in Australia.
